Mobilize retirees with clear roles, training, and intergenerational mentoring.

Invest in local organizing and stable staff support, uplifting rural, higher ed, and disempowered locals.

Bolster MTA’s membership density by investing serious resources, staff, and statewide support in grassroots local organizing. Help locals win strong contract language guaranteeing regular access to new hires, and grow our power by bringing non-members into the struggle through militant, rank-and-file–driven contract campaigns.

Honor democratic principles by centering rank-and-file member voices in the MTA’s decision-making and upholding the power of elected member leadership and Annual Meeting delegates.

Continue to build a strong staff structure that supports organizing as central to our mission.

Commit to equity and consistency in MTA staff support across locals, regardless of size or job classification, pre-K to higher ed.

Ensure local input into staffing priorities and crisis responses.

Encourage workplace organizing and give rank-and-file members access to MTA organizers.

Demand safety, dignity, full staffing, and full funding as core working conditions, from pre-K to higher ed.

Organize to win educator autonomy and protect teaching as a human craft by resisting the encroachment of AI, corporate curriculum, and standardization.

Defend academic freedom and free speech against censorship and targeted attacks. Protect educators’ freedom to teach and students’ freedom to learn.

Fight fascism on the job by building democracy in our workplaces, asserting worker power and fighting unilateral decisions at the building level.

Advance racial justice in our workplaces by uniting workers across differences, calling out harassment and hate, protecting marginalized coworkers, students, and families, and demanding equity in hiring and promotion.

Reject austerity and organize members to win budget justice, fair state funding, and aid to under-resourced districts from pre-K to higher ed.

Prioritize living wages, affordable healthcare, strong parental leave benefits, retiree COLAs, and pension protections.

Fight for legal protections for the right to strike, especially for public education workers.

Demand and fight for debt-free, high quality, public higher education.

Advance Bargaining for the Common Good as a tool for social and racial justice, and strengthen coalitions with labor, immigrant rights, climate, housing, and racial justice movements.

Unseat elected politicians who oppose MTA priorities, and replace them with pro-labor, pro-public education candidates.

Further the Fair Share Amendment to tax the rich in order to pay for public education and the public good.

Build long-term solidarity campaigns and prepare for coordinated mass action, supporting global worker struggles and movements for liberation and human rights.
